Private Pilot Initial Rotorcraft Rating

 

Minimum Course Requirements

1. Obtain an FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

2. Be at least 17 years of age at time of check ride

3. Pass an FAA Private Pilot Helicopter Knowledge Test

4. Pass an FAA Private Pilot Helicopter Practical Test

5. Obtain a minimum of 40 hours of flight time and 35 hours of ground instruction as per course outline; estimated minimum cost to obtain your initial helicopter rating: 

*Training in Robinson R-44 Raven I/Raven II

Commercial Pilot Initial Rotorcraft Rating

 

Minimum Course Requirements

1. Obtain an FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

2. Be at least 18 years of age at the time of check ride

3. Pass an FAA Commercial Pilot Helicopter Knowledge Test

4. Hold a Private Pilot Helicopter Certificate

5. Pass an FAA Commercial Pilot Helicopter Practical Test

6. Obtain a minimum of 150 hours of flight time including the flight time in this course and 30 hours of ground instruction as stated in course outline; estimated minimum cost to obtain your initial helicopter commercial rating:

(If helicopter instrument rating is completed before commercial, you can waive the 10 hours of instrument time saving $4,500.)

*Training in Robinson R-44 Raven I/Raven II

(*Note: Due to increased insurance premiums to rent R44 solo, a $5,000 refundable deposit must be made to solo the R44.)

Instrument Pilot Initial Rating

 

Minimum Course Requirements

1. Hold a Private Pilot Helicopter Certificate

2. Hold a current FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

3. Have a minimum of 44 hours of logged PIC Cross-Country flight time

4. Pass an FAA Instrument Helicopter Knowledge Test

5. Pass an FAA Instrument Helicopter Practical Test

6. Obtain a minimum of 40 hours of dual instruction and 26 hours of ground instruction as per course outline.

CFI Certified Flight Instructor Initial Rotorcraft Rating

 

Minimum Course Requirements

1. Hold a valid Commercial Pilot Helicopter Certificate

2. Be able to read write and understand the English language

3. Hold a current FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

4. Pass an FAA Helicopter Flight Instructor Knowledge Test

5. Pass an additional FAA Knowledge Test on the Fundamentals of Instruction

6. Pass an FAA Helicopter Flight Instructor Practical Test

7. Obtain a minimum of 20 hours of flight time and 20 hours of ground instruction as per course outline

*Complete in Robinson R44

CFII Certified Flight Instructor Instruments (Initial)

 

Minimum Requirements

1. Hold a valid Commercial Pilot Helicopter Certificate

2. Be able to read write and able to understand the English language

3. Hold a valid Instrument Helicopter Rating

4. Hold a valid Flight Instructor Helicopter Certificate

5. Hold a current FAA Third Class Medical Certificate

6. Pass an FAA Instrument Flight Instructor Helicopter Knowledge Test

7. Pass an FAA Instrument Flight Instructor Helicopter Practical Test

8. Obtain 10 hours of dual instruction and 10 hours of ground instruction as per Course Outline
